Nick Allegretti, Falcons '09, has made a name for himself going into his senior season at Lincoln-Way East. The center started for a Class 7A state runner-up last season.
More than four months after playing in the state championship game at Memorial Stadium last November, he committed to Illinois within hours after Tito Odenigbo from Centerville (Ohio) became the first commit in Tim Beckman’s Class of 2014.
Now he’ll try to do even more than that. Like playing in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl next January in San Antonio. “It’s a pretty cool thing,”
Allegretti said. “It’s a huge honor, and there’s been some unbelievable players who have played in it.” Andrew Luck. Ndamukong Suh. Adrian Peterson. Percy Harvin.

Nick Allegretti '09, Lincoln-Way East offensive guard has orally committed to play football for Illinois after visiting the school. "I felt that Illinois is a great fit for me on and off the field and I was ready to make my decision," said Allegretti, who plans to major in accounting. "I called up the coaches at Illinois and gave them my commitment." Allegretti, who is 6-foot-4, 280 pounds, helped the Griffins to a runner-up finish in Class 7A in 2012 and has a brother Joey, '07 who attends Illinois. "Illinois is a perfect fit for me. I also believe in Coach (Tim) Beckman and his philosophy that we have a ton of talent in Chicagoland and that we need to start keeping that talent at Illinois. "I considered the coaching situation and all of the recent changes, but I feel Coach Beckman will do some great things at Illinois. I really was looking at everything, and Illinois hands down offered it all. Click here for the Chicago Tribune article

Brian Fordon'08 a senior at Providence Catholic High School and will be playing college football in the Ivy League at Dartmouth in 2013. He chose Dartmouth over Princeton, Northwestern and University of Chicago. This has been a dream of his as long he can remember. Fordon led his team in tackles with over 100, 6 sacks, 5 tackles for loss and 5 caused fumbles. He was a team captain and All Catholic League, All Area and Academic All State performer as well as team Most Valuable Player. He had over 200 tackles in his career and 22 in one game against Brother Rice his Sr. season. More importantly his classroom prowess is most impressive. His 4.33 gpa and High Honor Roll for all 4 semesters are what makes him Ivy League worthy. Coach Pergi, his linebacker coach says Brian will shine in the Ivy League as he was one of his most athletic linebackers he has coached in his 30 years of coaching. He is heavily involved at Providence in volunteer work with the Student Council, Eucharistic Ministry and Habitat For Humanity. He plans on studying economics and finance at Dartmouth. He already has self appointed a mentor in former Dartmouth baseball pitcher and Lincoln Way East graduate, Larry Fey, who is a successful principal at a private equity firm in Chicago. His dad knew he was a special student when in grade school he used to set his alarm for 5AM to get up and finish his homework he didn't get done the night before. Brian must work very hard at scholastics and athletics and it is paying dividends in 'Ivy Green'. Below is a recent article on Brian in the Frankfort Patch. Congratulations Brian and Good Luck at Dartmouth! http://frankfort.patch.com/articles/providence-football-player-bound-for-ivy-league
